It is with a feeling of great joy and pleasure that I present to the reader the third book in the Islamization of Knowledge series of IIIT (Nigeria) Office entitled "Islamization of Knowledge: Background, Models and the Way forward". It is written by Malam Sa'idu Sulaiman a strong proponent of the Islamization of Knowledge undertaking and an active worker and researcher who has delivered lectures and seminar papers on the subject in different institutions across the country. Like the previous books in this series, it covers all the major issues related to the concept of Islamization of knowledge such as the need for Islamizing knowledge as well as the goals, working definition and historical background of Islamization of knowledge. In addition, however, the book covers very many new topics such as the meaning of knowledge in Islam and the Islamization scale which as the author explains in the preface were as a result of the observations and suggestions received during the numerous outreach seminars he and other IIIT resource persons presented in the last few years.

In the second section of the book, there is an excellent exposition and analysis of all the current Islamization of knowledge models including one by the author, "the task-strategy model." This is followd by a discussion on the implementation strategies required to move the Islamization of knowledge undertaking forward.

This second section together with the earlier introductory section provide the reader with invaluable insight into what Islamization of knowledge is all about and the most effective methods that would ensure its long-term success. The book will, therefore, be very beneficial to all seriously minded scholars interested in earnestly pursuing the Islamization of knowledge undertaking.
